ThriveFest Circle Edition One: Beyond Networking and Into Meaningful Connections

Thrivefestcircle by Thrive7

On September 5, 2026, something we had been building toward finally came to life.

ThriveFest Circle – Edition One brought together a curated group of entrepreneurs, professionals, creatives, founders, builders and ambitious individuals in Lagos for an experience built around one simple idea:

Networking should be about more than exchanging contacts.

With the theme “Beyond Networking — Creating Opportunities Through Meaningful Connections,” the first edition of ThriveFest Circle was designed to create the kind of environment where people could have genuine conversations, meet outside their usual circles, exchange ideas, have fun and potentially discover relationships that continue long after the event.

And based on the conversations, feedback and connections that came out of the day, that idea resonated.

Why We Created ThriveFest Circle

Traditional networking can sometimes become predictable.

You meet someone.

You ask what they do.

You exchange numbers or social media handles.

You take a picture.

And then life moves on.

We wanted to explore something different.

What happens when people are given an environment where they can actually get to know one another?

Not just what someone does, but why they do it.

Not just what company they represent, but what they’re building, learning, experiencing or trying to achieve.

That became the foundation of ThriveFest Circle.

The goal wasn’t to see how many contacts someone could collect in one afternoon.

It was to create opportunities for fewer but more meaningful connections.

An Experience Designed Around Connection

From the moment guests arrived, the experience was intentionally designed to encourage interaction.

Guests received their Connection Passport, Connection Band and Number Match, giving everyone a simple reason to start conversations with people they may not have approached naturally.

The room gradually moved from introductions to conversations, from conversations to laughter, and eventually to genuine interactions between people who had walked into the venue as strangers.

Match & Meet: Breaking the Ice

One of the first structured experiences was Match & Meet.

Rather than leaving networking entirely to chance, guests were encouraged to find their matching numbers, introduce themselves and learn more about the person they had been matched with.

It was simple.

But it gave people something that traditional networking often lacks:

a reason to start talking.

And once the first conversation happened, it became much easier for other conversations to follow.

Beyond Networking: The Conversation

The heart of the event was the Fireside Conversation, centred around the question:

What does it really mean to build meaningful connections?

The conversation explored authentic relationships, community, opportunity, collaboration and the role that conversations can play in opening unexpected doors.

Rather than treating networking as a transaction, the discussion challenged attendees to think about relationships differently.

Sometimes, an opportunity doesn’t begin with a pitch.

Sometimes it begins with:

“Hi, what’s your name?”

Connection Doesn’t Have to Be Serious All the Time

Meaningful connections don’t only happen around a conference table.

Sometimes they happen while laughing.

Playing a game.

Competing with a team.

Or simply having fun with people you’ve just met.

That was why the experience also included interactive community games and activities.

The games created another layer of interaction — allowing people to collaborate, compete, laugh and discover different sides of one another outside of professional titles.

The Connection Lounge

As the formal programme progressed, the room opened up into what we called The Connection Lounge.

This was where the philosophy of ThriveFest Circle really came alive.

People moved around.

Conversations continued.

Contacts were exchanged.

Ideas were discussed.

Introductions were made.

Some people met others they probably wouldn’t have encountered in their normal circles.

And that’s exactly what we hoped would happen.

Because sometimes the most valuable part of an event isn’t the stage.

It’s the conversation happening beside you.

What People Who Attended Had to Say

The best way to understand an experience isn’t always to hear from the people who created it.

It’s to hear from the people who experienced it.

Here’s some of what members of the ThriveFest Circle community shared after Edition One.

“The games and conversations were very stimulating.”

“I had a great time today! The games and conversations were very stimulating and I took home a lot from contributing to the panel discussions with questions.

It was also really nice to connect with the community, establish new contacts and better positioning for future collaborations and all of that.

Thank you all.”

— Jungle Man, Attendee

“The networking and conversations were top notch.”

“I really enjoyed everything about this event… The games, the atmosphere, the networking and the conversations were actually top notch. 💯🔥

I won’t miss the second edition for sure 😂”

— Angie CoCo, Attendee

“I can’t wait!”

And sometimes, you don’t need a long review.

One community member simply said:

“Omo I can’t wait oo. The eagerness wey dey my body ehn 😂…”

— Anonymous Community Member

For us, even that reaction says something important.

The goal isn’t simply to organise one good event.

It’s to create something people want to continue being part of.

More Than an Event

ThriveFest Circle was never intended to be just another event on a calendar.

Edition One was the beginning of a broader community experience.

The event created the physical space for people to meet, but the ThriveFest Circle community continues beyond the room.

The conversations can continue.

The introductions can become collaborations.

The people you met can become friends, partners, clients, mentors, colleagues or simply people you are glad you crossed paths with.

And that is where the real value of connection begins.

The Feedback Has Been Clear

Following Edition One, we received feedback around several parts of the experience:

  • The atmosphere and energy
  • The interactive games
  • The fireside conversation
  • Meeting people outside familiar circles
  • The opportunity to build new relationships
  • The balance between structured activities and open conversations
  • The overall community experience

But perhaps the most important feedback was simply seeing people continue talking to one another after the formal programme had ended.

That was the point.

Thank You to Everyone Who Made Edition One Possible

An experience like this doesn’t happen because of one person.

We are grateful to everyone who contributed to bringing ThriveFest Circle Edition One to life — our team, speakers, moderator, partners, collaborators, volunteers and everyone who worked behind the scenes.

And most importantly, thank you to everyone who showed up.

You gave us your Saturday.

You brought your stories, questions, experiences and personalities into the room.

You participated.

You started conversations.

You listened.

You connected.

You made the Circle.

So, What’s Next?

Edition One has given us something valuable:

a starting point.

We’ve seen what happens when people are brought together intentionally.

We’ve listened to the feedback.

We’ve experienced the conversations.

And we’ve seen the potential.

There is still much more to build.

ThriveFest Circle will continue to evolve as we create more spaces for meaningful conversations, connections, collaboration and opportunities.

Because Beyond Networking isn’t just the theme of one event.

It’s the philosophy behind the Circle.

One Conversation Can Change What Comes Next

You never really know what can come from one conversation.

The person you met for five minutes could introduce you to someone else.

A question could lead to an idea.

An introduction could become a collaboration.

A casual conversation could become a relationship that lasts for years.

That’s why we’re choosing to look beyond the contact list.

Beyond the handshake.

Beyond the Instagram follow.

Beyond Networking.

Welcome to ThriveFest Circle.

Edition One was just the beginning.
